Presso la Galleria Il Trifoglio Nero questo sabato la performance “ L’ATLAS D’UN MONDE L’AUTRE” : una bussola gigante in Piazza Matteotti
opera dell’artista parigino L’ATLAS”

Big Geezers
Artists participating in the Big Geezers show include MORCKY TROUBLES (Italy), MISS RIEL (Iceland), GALO (Italy), WAYNE HORSE (Germany), PEZ (Spain), MINIVILA (Croatia), FLYING FORTRESS (Germany), and THE LONDON POLICE (U.K).
Morcky’s roots are in graffiti although he has experience with photography, animation and video. These days he keeps an eye on the interaction of his paintings and drawings with their surroundings including walls and elements in the streets. Morcky also enjoys playing with perspective. Galo painted nearly every surface imaginable: fat bellies and flat ones, old walls and young electricity boxes, toilets and fences, ceilings and floors, canvas, wood, bikes and cars…sometimes he gets carried away. Obsessed with drawing, Horse loves to create situations, rather than whole stories, in a wide range of media. He leaves space for a story to evolve out of small apparently unconnected fragments, creating a different experience based on the individual’s own perspective. Pez took his signature smiling fish character to the streets to spread good vibrations and its success has spawned a host of smiling sibling characters. Minivila, a truly international artist who was raised in Croatia and is now based in Amsterdam, marries fashion, illustration, painting and music. Munich based artist Flying Förtress started to do classic graffiti in the early 90’s. After a hiatus where he focused on graphic design he hit the streets again with his infamous Teddy Troops. The London Police is a collective best known for their iconic “LADS” characters. The group travels extensively allowing the LADS to infiltrate cities around the world.

Josh Goldstein and Eric Orr
opening reception - Thursday, November 6th, 2008 6pm - 9pm
Acclaimed Bronx graffiti writer Eric Orr is best known for being one of the originators of icon graffiti in the early 1980's. His icon, Robot Head, was so named by Keith Haring, with whom he collaborated on a variety of projects.
Lately, Orr has focused on using MTA subway maps and authentic subway car signs acquired directly from the transit system as texture behind his iconic pictograms. He mounts these signs on canvas and mason boards, adding items often found in the stations, from metro cards to trash to the ever present advertising signs.
Brooklyn artist Josh Goldstein captures New York City bodega and Coney Island signage, Chinese take-out menus, and other urban flotsam; he then blows the images apart and reconstructs them in his sculptural photo collages mounted on salvaged plywood. Inspired by the grit and decay of New York City, his work pays homage to the churning engine of the city.
At the opening reception, art collectors will be able to create their own works of art using Goldstein's blocks and his "U pick, I stick" method.
This exhibition is the artist's first solo show in more than 2 years
in his native San Francisco Bay Area. It will fill the gallery complex
with a large number of paintings on wood panels, mixed media works, ink
drawings on paper, new installations and a hand-painted sign
installation.

October 30th sees the opening night of Prescription Art's first
exhibition - 'Outside In' - featuring 20 of the hottest street artists
from across the globe including: Zeus (FR), L'Atlas (FR), Dain, Broken Crow,
Bortusk Leer, FKDL, Case, Damon Ginandes, Deuce Seven (USA), Freek van
Haagen (NL) and EGO LEONARD (NL). Showcasing the breadth of talent &
styles hitting walls worldwide, each artist has a strong & distinctive
voice – whilst avoiding clichéd stencils and subject matter.
In many cases this is the first time the artists have exhibited in
the UK, despite having huge popularity in their own countries. On the
other hand Zeus has been a big name on the UK graffiti scene since the
1980s. Overall this is the freshest line-up of talent assembled for any
show this year, and will feature some genre-defining pieces. And a 3
meter lego man, Ego Leonard.

The exhibition runs until 6th November (11-6), and takes place at the
Truman Brewery, Brick Lane (entrance from Ely's Yard) London, UK.

Nasty,
Snake,Yaze, Alexöne, Babou, Misterchat, Vuille, L’Atlas, Space Invader…
investiront les murs de l’Hôtel Dassault pour la seconde fois cette année.
Gageons que le graffiti remportera un nouveau succès pour le plus grand
plaisir des inconditionnels du Street Art.

YOUNITY PRESENTS: HEART & SOUL, AN ART EXHIBITION & BOOK LAUNCH
Second Annual Exhibit Features 60 Avant-Garde Urban Contemporary
Female Artists
Queens, NY (September 2008)— We are excited to announce the
second annual YOUNITY art exhibition entitled Heart & Soul opening
on October 17th, 2008 at Alphabeta in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. As a
celebratory theme between 60 international women artists and what they
identify as "heart and soul," the exhibit promises an urban landscape
installation piece that unifies and pushes the boundaries of graffiti,
photography, urban contemporary art and fine art.
The exhibition will showcase original artwork by current YOUNITY
members as part of an indoor/outdoor site specific installation that
pays homage to the urban landscape. Members include world-renowned
artists: MAD C (Germany), Aiko Nakagawa (Japan), Faith47 (South Africa),
Krista Franklin (Chicago), and Diana McClure (NYC), to name a few. Only
60 out of 300 female urban artists were selected to participate in this
special exhibit. Works will range from hand-styles and graphics to
collage and abstract riffs---all expressing ideas on female identity,
the urban habitat, life and love.
The exhibit will also launch the Heart and Soul book, comprised of 60
artworks formatted for a 5x8 inch postcard-style flipbook. It is the
first publication in the YOUNITY collector's book series that will
showcase the work of current YOUNITY members. The Heart and Soul book
will retail for $19.50 and will be sold at targeted, limited locations.
Premiere copies will be available at the YOUNITY Heart & Soul event.
Overall, only 120 books in this special series will be available.
YOUNITY is the first ever international women's urban contemporary
art collective that brings female artists into a global networking
system as a means to create art exhibitions, installations, books and a
much needed archive of women's urban contemporary art. With the success
of their premiere exhibit, The C R O S S O V E R, YOUNITY has become a
sought after collective devoted to women with an inherent need to
perfect their craft through self-expression, surpass male dominance and
pass the torch on to younger female artists. For this project, only 60
out of 300 female urban artists were selected to participate with styles
that range from hand-styles, graphics and collage to abstract riffs on
the female identity, the urban habitat, life and love.
YOUNITY is in need of continued support to foster its self-publishing endeavors and independent growth.
Any and all donations to the collective can be directed to:

Mike Giant
Opening reception, October 11th, 2008 from 7-11 pm. The show runs
through November 1st premiering a solo exhibition of 60 plus works.
Recently retired from tattooing to focus on his fine art career,
Giant also promotes his clothing line REBEL8, which he began here in San
Francisco with partner Joshy D in 2003. Giant claims that although
"it's been great to focus on drawings more than tattoos, admittedly [he]
still enjoys working in skin on occasion." Like his art, the line

There is no denying Giant’s high skill level in creating the seamless
images crafted by his Sharpie. Focusing now on his drawings, Giant has
been able to add written comments and anecdotes to his illustrations
welcoming viewers into his mind. His signature style harks back to old
school print techniques that required defined line work and a steady
hand, which Giant perfected through his studies of Architecture and
Graphic Design. A stint in Amsterdam also influenced and added to
Giant’s collection of works where he kicked back on his rented
houseboat. Ultimately, it is Giant’s respect for a traditional
technique; versus creating computer-generated images, and his attention
to detail that warrant him a master at his craft.
Romon Kimin Yang aka Rostarr, was born in South Korea but has lived in NY since 1989. He has been a key figure in the city's underground art scene and has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, Asia and Europe.
His free-formed work comes across as a universe of abstract and geometrical shapes from which symbolic and iconographic elements emerge in elegant and incisive gestural strokes. His work is defined by an expression he calls 'Graphysics', meaning the fusion of graphic art and design and the physical laws governing the movement of energy. His work extends into the mediums of painting, digital media, sculpture, textile and public art projects with the Barnstormers collective.
Yang graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1993. In 2000, he was featured as one of I.D. magazine's "I.D. 40 under 30". In 2004, he was recognized as an honoree at the A.I.C.P. show held yearly at the New York Museum of Modern Art and his work has been reviewed by Art Forum, Modern Painters, The New York Times and Artnet.com among other prominent publications.
BLVD is proud to present "Fanatic" a group show that explores the
enthusiasm expressed in "Fan" art. The artists participating in this
show were given the task of creating art that is in tribute to
something that they are truly a fan of. It did not matter whether it
was related to entertainment, though much of it is, or cultural
pursuits but had to be straight from the heart. BLVD Gallery is
fanatic about the vibrant talent here in Seattle so most of the
artists involved are from the area and are showing with us for the
first time. Intermixed with them are some veteranos like Pars and Ego,
as well as a surprise installation from longtime gallery fixtures Zeta
Mek.

Amsterdam Holland: October 5 - November 9, 2008
Exhibition: Urban Pin Up
From the October 5th until November 9th work of
Asia and Yereth Jansen will be exposed at 'Skek:
Skek
Zeedijk 4 - 8
1012 AX Amsterdam
Opening
Sunday 5th of October, 16:00
During the exhibition several photos will be exposed, together with art objects created by Asia, which represent the style and theme of the project also brought forward in the photos. The exposed photos will be available for sale after the exhibition.
The project is inspired on early pin up styles seen in the 50s and 60s, most notably represented by Bettie Page, mixed with an underground style from the world of graffiti. The images strive to bring the two worlds in harmony with one another.
The power of the images lies in joining the two different styles into one; letting the two worlds meet harmoniously. This is represented in the clothing, make-up style, attributes and environment.
The suit has been created especially for the photo-shoot. The fan, umbrella and the gloves have been painted by Asia with Montana paint. The different attributes represent the female artist where two worlds meet.
The photos were taken in a squat in Amsterdam Noord; a place that has been the home to many graffiti artists and a fitting environment to our theme.
Showcasing a mix of Bristol, UK and international graffiti and street
artists, you'll be able to buy one-off canvasses and limited edition
prints from the likes of Mr Jago, Inkie, Dora, China Mike and Zase and
there are many more established artists and emerging new talents also
exhibiting.

NATURE INTERSECTS WITH THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT
AT DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS
Urban Nature
DENVER- Always an urban oasis, Denver Botanic Gardens is embracing the city in new ways this year. The Gardens' 2008 signature exhibition, "Urban Nature," explores the intersection of the urban environment and the natural world through art and horticultural practices, outlining strategies that all city dwellers can employ to evoke the natural world as green space diminishes amid concrete and steel.
A sense of contrast, yet balance, with the natural gardens will be realized through paintings by more than 10 local, national and internationally-known street-style painters and mural artists.
Among these prominent international personalities are artists Lady Pink, Mac, and Siloette - all of whom have contributed to the ever-evolving history of street-style art. New York City-area community activist, Lady Pink, has transitioned from painting subway trains in the '70s and '80s to creating grand-scale murals throughout New York City. Phoenix-based Mac draws inspiration from the surrounding Mexican and Chicano culture of the American Southwest, and cites artists Caravaggio, Mucha, and Vermeer as influential. Siloette, who currently resides in Los Angeles, is recognized mainly for her feminine subject matter, unique flowing style and organic ingredients; which can easily be compared to a modern interpretation of art nouveau. Frequently, dominant black outlines reference her previous work in stained glass.
Other local and regional talent includes artists Amanda Marie, Elisabeth Bunker, Delton Demarest, Dread, Sophie Fernandez, Javier Flores, Stevon Lucero, Jolt, Mission, Adam Moorhead, Todd Robinson, Ian Rumley, and Wiser.
These street murals will be created on temporary panels situated within the natural beauty of the Gardens' York Street site, forging visual relationships that both surprise and resonate. The panels, produced by James Hardie Building Products are made of environmentally friendly materials including wood pulp, cement, sand and water. These materials, which are low in toxicity and have been recycled up to four times, reflect the importance of sustainability to the Gardens' core values.
Balcony displays, container gardening, and the concept of the urban homestead and other unique horticultural practices for city dwellers will be highlighted, as well. These educational programs include discussions with author Rick Darke, who will give a talk titled "In Your Face: Ethics and Urban Ecology" on Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. Darke will articulate his belief that all people should see and celebrate the dynamics of cultural and biological diversity, and find beauty in unlikely things and utility in common ground.
"'Urban Nature' seeks to demonstrate how, in a contemporary world that embraces industrialization and technology, the human connection with the earth requires more nurturing than ever," said Lisa Eldred, Director of Exhibitions and Programs. "Not only will the city be brought into the Gardens, the Gardens will venture out into the urban environment with programs and stimulating installations."
"Urban Nature" will include a Community Gardens feature that demonstrates the concepts of community gardening. This component will be complemented by original sculptures from Bill, Judy and Robert Schempp of "Mind to Metal." These metalworks will contain weather-resistant photographs by the Gardens' official photographer, Scott Dressel-Martin.
Pertinent issues facing city life will be addressed through a comprehensive program schedule, including a discussion on the healing power and deliciousness of wild plants, classes on raising chickens in the city, and hands-on instruction in creating gardens for balconies or terraces. Also, spoken word presentations will be delivered at a Poetry Slam! and Open Mic Night at Denver Botanic Gardens on Monday, May 12, from 7 - 9 p.m., co-presented by the University of Denver's Writing Program.
Guided tours of the "Urban Nature" exhibit will be offered every Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
Denver Botanic Gardens is located at 1005 York Street in Denver, Colorado. Denver Botanic Gardens thanks the citizens who support the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
The presenting sponsor of "Urban Nature" is Wells Fargo.
