Sin NFC | 06/01 - 2004

EYEGASM - Tell me about your crew NFC. What is it short for? Who started the crew and who are the members?
Mile, who joined the crew most recently, is a lot younger then the other members. Do you guys hang out or how did he end up in NFC?

Sin/NFC - no fucking class.. weston started it in the late 80´s with cyclone, clear, jason, reson, basic. I joined in 95,flyte in 99 and mile in 2001. We hang out with mile pretty often. he always wants to drink, so we have to look after him..

EYEGASM - As far as I know you’ve been around atleast since the early 90-s. When did you start painting and why? Who did you paint with back then?

Sin/NFC - I started with insides in 89..and did my first trains in 91, both commuter and subways.. Back then we didn’t like the commuters, cause we were subway kids. So I spent like two years just doing insides and some really fucked back jumps. at that time my partners were volt and rebel(the original from17th line). A lot of my inspiration to start to paint came from demens, everyday wen I went to school his name was there. So I thought that I should get up too..

EYEGASM - I’ve understood you and kaos used to paint alot together in the mid 90-s. Was he some sort of mentor for you during that time?

Sin/NFC - yeah.. we hanged out a lot. It was a really god time. But he was more like a mentor in how to drink beer and coffee.

EYEGASM - Your Sin style is pretty classic according to me, but you’ve also used other names and other styles. I must say you really had it going on with the Dids style. Why did you drop that name and why did you chose the name Dids? Whatabout the names Love and Celtik(celt)? Why did you chose those names?

Sin/NFC - I´m not sure were I got the name from. I was probably just mixing some letters and I never really dropped it, I just haven’t done any dids pieces for 6 years or so.. I chosed love cause I got a lot of love to give. Ha ha. Celt is from my roots… but I had to drop that, cause some dude in oslo was also writing it.

EYEGASM - How would you describe your different styles and influences?

Sin/NFC - My style is Stockholm style..perfect for trains..

EYEGASM - What matters the most to you, style or fill in?

Sin/NFC - Both are important.. nowadays people only use Montana with fatcaps. So to me it looks really fucked.. sad but true.

EYEGASM - Have you got any favourite writers?

Sin/NFC - For sure. Buster and a lot of oldschool green line writers. I also like moral, wagon, virus,Weston it’s to many to mention.

EYEGASM - I saw you left your mark on Amsterdam subway a few years back. Have you been travelling alot to paint trains? Where have you painted?(trains/walls)

Sin/NFC - I’ve been to Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Munich, Basel, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Harlem and Östersund.

EYEGASM - You paint both trains and walls but what do you prefer and why?

Sin/NFC - Trains of Course…it’s such a fresh feeling…walls are good for throw´s.

EYEGASM - When did you do your first train and with whom? Please share the story around it.

Sin/NFC - My first subway was in hagsätra -91. I did it alone. The guy who was gonna check for me was so fat that he couldn’t walk thru the woods.. My first commuter was also in -91 in upv. With track and scen. At that time the lay up were in the woods really f***ing far from the station.

EYEGASM - Can you describe how the situation for trainwriters has changed in Stockholm from the time you started painting trains till December 2003 when this interview was made? (security, buff etc etc)

Sin/NFC - When I really started to do commuters in -93 there were no security. But the cops showed up pretty often. Especially in ulriksdal märsta and sumpan.. The buff hasn’t changed much. But they must have been busy, sometimes your pieces ran for some days..

EYEGASM - I heard a story about you being on the lookout for Aman and Mud when they were going to hit a commutertrain back in the days. You were pissdrunk and on acid, and fell asleep under the train while being on the lookout. What are your memories from that night?

Sin/NFC - I remember that night, but I was only totally drunk. Me and aman were out racking beer on the mrs line, and we got about a full paper bag each. Anyhow, we ended up in upv. then I don’t remember much more than that I was in the Lay up..i don’t even remember that I met mud..

EYEGASM - You participated in atleast one wholetrain, did you like it enough to try it again? When did you do em and what kind of trains was it?

Sin/NFC - I’ve been down with 3 whole trains. One in -94 on the commuters, and one on the subway in -01. we tried to do one in -93, but more than half of us said no, so me and bonke and mooke did one mans.

EYEGASM - In Underground Productions magazine #8 1995 there is a photo of a Sin-Reson panel where the Karlberg station sign is covering the “i” of your piece. The sign has been removed in Photoshop or similar though, was that your idea?

Sin/NFC - No! I never gaved them the photo. That was e really ugly piece,ha ha.

EYEGASM - I’ve seen a “Bboy Sin” panel made by you in 1994. What is your opinion about graffiti and hiphop? Do you see graffiti as a part of the hiphop culture?

Sin/NFC - Back then I liked hip hop but now I think its just bullshit. Who the fuck is 50 cent? When people started to bomb, hip hop didn’t exist. I don’t think it’s a part of Hip hop, I think it’s a part of yourself.

EYEGASM - What do you think about the graffitiscene in sthlm at the moment? How has it developed? (both stylewise and otherwise)

Sin/NFC - I think 85 percent of pieces done in sthlm Is shit. Right now it seems to be who’s doing the biggest or most. Nobody cares what it looks like.

EYEGASM - What do you think about younger(or older) writers who come out hard with a lot of attitude?

Sin/NFC - Fuck off!

EYEGASM - The subwaystations seem to have been taken over by toys, how come?

Sin/NFC - they’re easy targets now when the vandal squad is gone..

EYEGASM - Have you got any advice to the Roststopp kids running around destroying layups and stations?

Sin/NFC - Don’t try to do anything you cant handle. You weren’t supposed to be a writer.

EYEGASM - Do you agree on the fact that graffiti is a lot about business these days? I mean, back in the days there were no such thing as hiphop shops or “graffiti cans”.

Sin/NFC - Yes.

EYEGASM - With hiphop shops and “graffiti cans” it’s become a lot easier to become a writer. It’s not a special few who does it anymore and if you got internetaccess you can learn all the dirty tricks online instead of the good old trial and error method. How has this affected the graffitiscene?

Sin/NFC - Just look at the pieces. It looks like “yo! My mum gaved me 300, lets buy some cans and fuck shit up! Its my 13th birthday today”.

EYEGASM - Speaking about the internet. What do you think about the graffitisites? Are there any sites you check on a regular basis?

Sin/NFC - Yeah..i like cityfox.ch

EYWGASM - Do you have any unfulfilled graffitidreams?

Sin/NFC - No, not really..i don’t have any dreams..

EYEGASM - You must have been through a lot during all your years as a writer. Can you tell a nice story from some chase or whatever?

Sin/NFC - I remember one night me volt and mega were doing a whole car in ullriksdal, when we were almost finished the cops showed up. So we had to run over the golf course and into the woods. It was the first time volt painted that lay up.. so he didn’t know that there’s a river in the woods, wich is a lot bigger than I looks like. So he tried to jump over it, but he didn’t have a chance. He was totally under water and this was in September or October.. so ha had to take the night buss back to his place, ofcourse he took the wrong one and ended upp in akalla or something. He was sick for like two weeks or something. Anyway me and mega were gonna finish the piece an hour later but the cops had taken all the cans, so we had to search the lay up for rest cans. Luckily we found two half full blacks. Perfect! So we finished it, and wen we were taking pics of it the driver showed up, so we left, just walking past the cabin. He was in there just looking at us.

EYEGASM - If you have to choose A or B in the following scenarios, what would you choose?:

A) To lose your blackbooks and all negatives in a fire.
Or
B) Never touch a spraycan again.

Sin/NFC - A

EYEGASM - A) Never take photos of any of your future pieces.
Or
B) Only do graffiti at home on canvas for the rest of your life.

Sin/NFC - A

EYEGASM - A) Being forced to make all your future pieces with Beckers cans and originalcaps, using your left arm only, leaving a pretty shitty result each time.
Or
B) Stop doing real graffiti and only do streetart.

Sin/NFC - A
